Writers Associations

There are a variety of writers guilds, associations and workshops that are designed to help writers improve upon their skill, learn new marketing strategies or to keep up to date on the latest electronic systems.  All of these can be good in their own way and should be explored either on the internet or in person.  Granted most all of them charge a fee from a few dollars to a few thousand.  Does the cost make a difference?  That all depends on what you are expecting from the group.

No matter what the cost is, each group has its value and it’s up to you to explore the various groups that relate to your type of writing genre and use it to your best ability.  Remember, there are millions of writers all wanting to write that million dollar best seller, or that one piece of work that wins a Pulitzer prize.  It may come down to a simple fact; they used and worked with an organization that helped them become better at their craft.

Another way to look at the organizations is simply as, continued education.  A doctor, lawyer or any licensed professional will always do some form of continued education to keep up to date in their field of expertise.  A writers group or conference is the same concept.  Learn more, and become better at what you do.

Alan

Have you ever felt an Angel was around you during a time of crises?  What about a Spirit Guide leading you to safety?  If so, we want to hear about it.  Angels of Protection was our first book about Angels and we are expanding the book into a series of books; with each topic discussing a certain aspect: Finance, War, Health, Near Death, etc.

If you have a story you would like to share and have included in our book, email it to us at: Angels@CreativeHousePress.com.  We will review it and let you know if it will be included in one of our books on Angels.

Sales Gimmicks

There are companies out there known as ‘Self-Publish’ or ‘Ego Publishing’ that will charge you for anything that they do.  They will make it sound like you will win big time by ‘buying’ their product or service.  Here is a recent example of such an offer:

Your book in Wal-Mart!
It happened with little fanfare, but Wal-Mart is now selling Amazon’s Kindle. Anyone can go to Wal-Mart, buy the e-reader, turn it on to activate, and there’s your book!

Once your book is converted to a Kindle e-book, it will be directly available for sale in each Wal-Mart store all over the country, through Amazon’s Kindle. Anyone can buy the Kindle in Wal-Mart, activate it while in Wal-Mart, and find and buy your book right there, on the spot!

Get it done today for a low $59*, and your book will be available through Amazon’s Kindle and Wal-Mart as early as next week.

Don't get left behind now. You can’t beat that Amazon/Wal-Mart combination.
Doesn’t that sound Awesome!  The truth is, any good publishing company has already done that and did it at no cost to you!

At Creative House Press, when a book is ready to go to print, the very first thing we do is get it to the Amazon Kindle store, MobiPockets, Android and iPhone.  We understand the value of eBooks and know that it is one of the fastest growing mechanisms for people to read new books.  We spend the time to set each book up properly for the various systems to ensure that eBook readers enjoy what they read.

Don’t get caught up in the hype of salesmanship when they are charging you for something a publishing house already does.

Cheers,
Alan
